Winter Light on Both Coasts
Here is Winter Light from The Space Between the Trees series. Installed in a stairwell in a private home with traditional decor in Brookline MA on the east coast, the work complements the architectural detail of the home. Three thousand miles away the piece occupies its own modern conference room at Teleflora Plaza. The work is an edition of 6 prints on aluminum at 28" x 70".
It will also be on view in Los Angeles as part of the all media group show Adorn, an exploration of design and decorative schemes in contemporary art practice, juried by Sarah Russin, Executive Director, Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, (LACE). Adorn runs from February 28 – April 3, 2015 at Gallery 825 (825 N. La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90069). Opening is Saturday February 28, 6 to 9 pm. Stop by and say hello if you have a chance!

Photography plays an important role in my work, but I have never considered myself to be a photographer. I am not trained in the art, nor do I come from a film background. I am a digital girl who uses photos as source material for creating. Before digital photography became the norm and the equipment to make quality images was within reach, I would shoot film and then scan the prints. The photographs themselves were not my endgame, but rather what I could do with them. This remains true. While a photographer might be considered someone who paints with light, I am someone who paints with photographs. Every now and then I get lucky and make images that stand on there own.
