The Dreamspace series combines drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, scanning and digital manipulation to create new places. As in dreams, space here is fluid. How we perceive space and our environment informs who we are. For me, the world is shifting and soft. Tides define an everchanging shoreline. It is in these marginal spaces, the point where one thing becomes another, that life originally evolved. These are spaces of possibility.
This series includes 27 images that share an architectural nature. Liminal spaces such as passages, doors, stairs and windows all help define an inner arena where ideas can evolve. Such dream imagery depicts aspects of consciousness. Sometimes inhabited. Sometimes not. These pictures seek to illuminate the world within as without. Initially produced in an edition of 12 standard Iris prints on somerset heavyweight paper, additional experimentation with melding digital printing with traditional media has led to several larger unique works based on these images.
